Evan Moppert
senior associate
Evan grew up in Cambridge, a rural town of about 2,000, in upstate New York. In 2002 he graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a bachelors degree in Economics.
Lured by the Rocky Mountains and the outdoor recreation opportunities of the West, Evan moved to Bozeman. Soon thereafter he attended law school at the University of Montana School of Law in Missoula and graduated in 2010.
In law school, Evan was a member of the Competitive Trial Team, the Environmental Law Group, and was an elected representative to the law school’s honor code committee.
Following graduation, Evan took a position as the Deputy County Attorney for Beaverhead County where he worked with the Sheriff’s Office, the Dillon City Police, FWP Wardens, and others to prosecute misdemeanor and felony offenses and assist the County in civil matters. In 2012, he moved back to Bozeman to start a solo criminal defense practice, where he defended Gallatin County clients in all types of criminal cases, from misdemeanors to serious felony charges.
Looking to expand his legal knowledge into the world of economics and business, Evan took a position as associate attorney for Schwasinger & Fallaw, PC in the spring of 2018. There, he gained experience in real estate law, estate planning, probate and business law.
Professional and capable, Evan creates a strong relationship with each client and provides a breadth of legal knowledge in a variety of practice areas, from drafting easements and property agreements, to creating the governing documents for condominium owner associations. In 2021, he joined Cromwell Law to focus on real estate, estate planning and probate, condominium and homeowner associations, and business transactions in service to those navigating the complexities of the legal system.
In his free time, Evan enjoys hunting and fishing, mountain biking and exploring new places with his partner Christy and their daughter.
